A content gap analysis shows what your website is missing

I find out which important topics the competition covers better, where your current content is not enough, which pages to improve and where pages compete with each other for nothing. You get clear priorities on what to create, what to update and what is not worth dealing with at all.

You get a clear plan for improving the content of the website

This is not a list of topics the competition has and you do not. I assess every opportunity by the real demand and by the benefit for your business. The result is a plan that tells you what to create, what to improve and what not to invest in.

I find out what your website is missing

I uncover the topics and queries customers search for but your website does not cover well enough. I distinguish where content is genuinely missing from where it is enough to improve what you already have.

What to create, adjust or merge

For every important topic I set the next step. You will see where you need a new page and where it will be better to improve or merge the content you already have.

Where the competition is ahead of you

I review on which important topics the competition gains greater visibility and why. This is not about copying it but about finding the opportunities that make sense for your website.

I decide what to prioritize

I order the opportunities by their potential, their relevance and how demanding they are. You will know where to start, what to deal with later and what is not worth doing at all.

How to proceed from the analysis

We go through the results together and I explain the most important decisions and the recommended next steps. What is left of the analysis is therefore not a spreadsheet but a plan you can start working from.

A content gap analysis sized to your website

I adapt the scope to your market, your offer and the part of the website you need reviewed. For larger e-commerce stores and multilingual websites I split the analysis so that the output stays clear and content can genuinely be planned from it.

Not every gap means missing content

A content gap analysis does not only look for topics you do not have on the website. I also review whether the current content matches what people are searching for, whether it is good enough and whether it brings anything beyond the competition.

I find the missing topic

Customers search for a relevant topic or question your website does not cover at all yet.

Poorly covered intent

You have the topic on the website, but the page does not match what the person is really searching for or needs to solve.

Weak or outdated content

The page exists, but the competition answers better, in more depth or more recently. Here it is often not necessary to create more content but to improve what is already there.

Missing added value

The content says essentially the same thing as everyone else. I look for room to add your own experience, data, examples or a useful view the competition does not offer.

How does a content gap analysis work?

1. I decide who you are really being compared with

First I get clear about your market, your customers and your offer. Then I choose the competitors that compete for the same organic demand. They do not have to be the same companies you normally see as your commercial competition.

2. I compare the demand with your content

I connect the data on what people search for with the content you already have on the website. That lets me find out which topics are missing and which you already cover but are not yet using to their potential.

3. I verify the real opportunities

For the important topics I review the search results, the competition and the quality of your current content. Not every gap is worth filling. I remove the topics that do not bring enough benefit to your website.

4. I decide what to do with the content

To every important opportunity I assign a specific action. Create, update, expand, merge or leave alone. Finally I set the priorities, so that you know where to start.

The competition is not a content plan you can simply copy.

The fact that certain content works for another website does not mean the same approach will work for you. That is why I mainly look for the places where you can offer a more precise answer, your own experience or a view the others lack. That is exactly where a reason to choose you in search can come from.

When a content gap analysis makes sense for you

Do you have content on the website but are not sure where to develop it next? A content gap analysis helps most at the moment you no longer want to publish by feel and need to find out where the website still has unused room.

More content on its own will not bring better results. What decides is knowing where your website is genuinely missing something.

A content gap analysis fits when

  • You publish regularly but do not know which topics should come next.
  • You are planning content for the coming months and want to base it on real data.
  • Organic traffic has stalled and you are looking for further room to grow.
  • The competition gains traffic on topics your website does not use yet.
  • You are preparing a redesign and need to decide what to keep, rework or add.

A different step fits better when

  • Still need to find out what your customers actually search for? Start with a keyword analysis.
  • Know which topics you need to cover but lack the structure and the content itself? SEO content will fit better.
  • Have a lot of existing content and mainly need to decide what to keep, update or remove? A content audit will fit better.
  • Is organic traffic held back by technical problems and you do not know the cause? Start with an SEO audit.
  • Already know what needs improving and looking for ongoing help with delivery and further development? A long-term SEO cooperation will fit better.
